Your Questions Answered
Q: What is a FAQ?
A: FAQ is an acronym for "frequently asked questions."
Q: How do I arrange counselling?
A: Use the form on the "contact me" page or you can simply book straight into my diary.
Q: What will happen when I phone?
A: The phone is permanently on Voice Mail but checked frequently. You will hear my voice asking you to leave a safe contact number and your name and I will call you back. There is no need to leave a message.
Q: I prefer to email
A: So do I! I can arrange things with you without worrying about waking your child or your colleagues knowing your business. Please email if you prefer.
Q: I am not really sure about online counselling, tell me more.
A: Briefly it involves setting up a slightly different contract and making sure we have a safe way to work. My laptop is password protected with firewalls and virus checker and I would encourage you to do the same. We agree on a safe email address, which is encrypted and may not be the one you initially contact me with, times of "meeting" and how many sessions you want. I have a full leaflet with all the information, just ask.
Q: How much does face to face counselling cost?
A: Costs for both couples and individuals are held here. An hour is actually 50 minutes in counselling and the other 10 minutes allows for some brief note-taking between clients. You will be asked to pay for your first appointment at our initial meeting.
Q: How much does online counselling cost?
A: An encrypted Therapeutic Email or 50 minute online chat session is paid in advance securely via Paypal or bank transfer. Your TE would be in response to your normally 1 page email and as many follow up emails you wish to send in an agreed period. Skype or other webcam counselling is normally done in text / video or voice call at an agreed time. When you use text it means you have a copy of our session to refer back to at a later date. Costs for both couples and individuals are held here.
Q: What can I expect from my first contact?
A: An appointment will be made at a mutually convenient time to gather further information and to see if my style of counselling suits you. The information gathering will take up the first appointment and the real work starting in the following weeks.
Q: How long does counselling take?
A: It's a good idea to think in 6 week periods as a review of how things are is generally done then. You can, of course, carry on for as long or as little as you like. I do ask that notice is given for cancelled appointments to allow me to arrange my diary. Online counselling benefits for advance payment for 5 sessions and a sixth session is added free. This applies to individuals only. This is a copy of an online agreement.
Q: What is GDPR and why do I need to know?
A: The GDPR and Data Protection Bill jointly replace the Data Protection Act 1998. I am likely hold and be responsible for holding and processing personal data about individuals and are therefore required to adhere to data protection regulations. My privacy policy is here and you will also be reminded when you book your first appointment.
